Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Keen Removals.
Contact us using the form on this site, by email, or by calling the number above and we will discuss your move. The more detail you can give us — the size of your property, the approximate volume, any specialist items, and the access at both addresses — the more accurately we can quote. There is no charge for a quote.
As a rule, the sooner the better. Weekend moves and end-of-month dates fill quickly across Merseyside. Once you have an exchange date or confirmed moving date, contact us to check availability. For mid-week moves with reasonable notice, we can often accommodate shorter lead times. During the student move peak in August and September, early booking is especially important.
Date changes are not uncommon, particularly around property completions. Contact us as soon as you know a date may need to change and we will do our best to accommodate the new date. The sooner we know, the more flexibility we have to rearrange.
It is generally advisable to be present, or to have a trusted representative at both the collection and delivery address. This allows us to confirm which items are being moved, answer any questions about placement at the destination, and make sure everything has been collected before the team leaves the outgoing property.
Keen Removals covers Liverpool city centre and its suburbs, Sefton, Knowsley, the Wirral, Halton, West Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and North Wales. This includes 40 specific locations across the region. If you are unsure whether your area is covered, contact us with your postcode and we will confirm.
Yes. We carry out removals to and from all Wirral locations including Birkenhead, Wallasey, New Brighton, Heswall, Hoylake, West Kirby, Bebington, Bromborough, and Neston. Cross-Mersey moves via the Kingsway or Queensway tunnel carry a toll charge that is factored into the quote.
Yes. We cover the whole of the UK from our Merseyside base. Key corridors from Liverpool include the M6 southward for the Midlands and London, the M62 eastbound for Yorkshire and beyond, and the A55 North Wales Expressway for moves to North Wales, Anglesey, and the Llyn Peninsula. Contact us with your specific origin and destination for a quote.
Yes. North Wales is within our coverage area, reached via the A55 North Wales Expressway from the Merseyside base. We handle moves to Wrexham, Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, Bangor, Anglesey, and other North Wales locations. Contact us for a free quote specific to your route.
There are some items that cannot be transported by a standard removal for safety or legal reasons. These include hazardous materials such as paint, solvents, flammable gases, ammunition, and certain chemicals. Perishable food is generally not suitable for longer-transit moves. Live plants can be moved but are not covered if damaged by heat or cold during transit. If you are unsure about a specific item, ask us at the quote stage.
Yes. Upright pianos are moved with appropriate equipment and care. Grand pianos require partial disassembly — the legs and pedal lyre are removed and the body is moved on a specialist board — before they can be safely transported. We assess access at both properties in advance. Contact us for a quote specific to your piano and premises.
Yes. Our furniture assembly service covers the dismantling of large flat-pack items at your origin and full reassembly at your destination. Flat-pack furniture is designed for a limited number of disassembly cycles, so we take care with joints and fixings to keep pieces in good condition.
The more prepared you are before the team arrives, the smoother the day will go. Ideally, all personal items should be in labelled boxes indicating the destination room. Large furniture we have agreed to dismantle should be cleared of contents. Anything you are not moving should be clearly separated from items that are. Ensure there is clear access at your front door and on any path between the property and the road.
Drawers with lightweight items such as clothing can sometimes be moved with contents in, as long as the total weight is manageable and the drawers can be secured. Wardrobes should be emptied of hanging items, which can be transported in wardrobe boxes. Heavy items such as books should always be in boxes, not furniture. We will advise specifically at the quote stage based on what you have.
We agree a start time with you in advance. Most moves in Merseyside begin in the morning to allow time for loading, transit, and unloading within a comfortable day. For long-distance moves, we typically start earlier to allow for drive time and still complete delivery within the day. We confirm the agreed arrival time when booking is finalised.
Completion delays are not unusual in UK property transactions, and we plan around them. If keys are delayed, we will wait or adjust the schedule where possible. We keep in close contact with you on move day so we can respond quickly to any changes as they happen.
Yes. At your new property we will place furniture and boxes in the rooms you direct us to. If you have a clear plan for where larger items should go, letting the team know on arrival saves time and avoids having to reposition heavy furniture later.
Keen Removals is fully insured. If you have specific questions about the coverage applicable to your move — particularly for high-value, antique, or specialist items — please discuss these with us at the time of booking so you have full clarity before moving day.
High-value small items such as jewellery, passports, financial documents, medications, and cash are best transported by you personally rather than packed into the removal van. This gives you full control over their security and means you have immediate access to them on arrival.
Yes. If there is a gap between leaving your current property and moving into your new one — due to a delayed completion, a property needing work, or a chain break — we can arrange secure storage for your belongings and redeliver them when you are ready. Contact us to discuss your specific timeline.
Storage durations vary depending on your situation. We can accommodate short gaps of a few days through to longer-term arrangements where a renovation or chain issue is taking more time than expected. Contact us to discuss your specific timeline and we will confirm what is available.
In most residential areas we can park on the road without a formal arrangement. In controlled parking zones, city centre locations, or areas with restrictions, you may need to arrange a temporary suspension of parking restrictions with your local council or building management. We will advise on this at the quote stage based on the specific addresses involved. In Liverpool city centre this step is often necessary.
The Mersey tunnels carry a toll charge which is a real cost of any Wirral job. We factor the tunnel toll into the quote for any move that involves a crossing. Contact us with your specific origin and destination addresses and we will provide a clear all-in quote.
Yes. We ask for loading bay booking details in advance and plan the move within the permitted time window. For moves into apartment blocks — particularly in Liverpool city centre and waterfront developments — we recommend checking with your building management about lift booking requirements and move-in time restrictions before confirming a date.
